Regional Committees - We call it Community Supported Unionism!
WMJwJ organizes Local Workers’ Rights Committees that build community support for
issues campaigns (including the right to organize, the economic crisis, health care justice, single-payer health care, and defending and expanding the public sector),
union organizing (including Walmart, May Institute, Iron Horse Entertainment Group, Franklin Community Co-op, Mental Health Association, Northampton YMCA, UMass “03s” and “Post Docs”, certain other employers that can’t be named at this time), and
contract struggles (including Stop&Shop, ServiceNet, Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Baystate Visiting Nurses, Iron Horse Entertainment Group, Verizon, Cooley Dickinson Hospital)
Local Workers' Rights Committees are full members of the Coalition.
They work with the Western Massachusetts Workers’ Rights Board of high profile public citizens, including clergy, government officials, professors, others, supporting workers’ rights with public statements and hearings.
